Our Mission
We believe in quality of life for all persons regardless of disability, income, or age.
For people with disability, that quality is frequently dependent on equipment, which provides mobility and regard for physical health care.
We provide products that are designed for safety, durability and a maximum of maneuverability. Our products must meet the requirements of being highly functional while preventing the occurrence of deformities.
Our ultimate goal is to provide equipment that will improve function and bring about a greater degree of personal independence.

Our History
Healthcare Equipment Inc. was founded in Durham in May 1979 by Larry and Suzanne Lankford, along with Thomas and Sue Johnson. Five years later, we established our current office at 4228 Garrett Rd., Durham, NC.
Our focus on providing appropriate mobility solutions in schools began after the U.S. Congress passed Public Law 94-142 in 1975, which guaranteed the right of all American children to a free and appropriate public education, regardless of disability status.
With the passage of the ADA in 1990, which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodation, communications, and access to state and local government programs and services, we further committed ourselves to offering our customers the highest quality equipment and personalized service, regardless of income or disability.
Over the past 45 years, we have witnessed significant advancements in mobility equipment, accessibility, and inclusion. We are proud to have contributed to these changes and continue to serve each client, family, and partner with services tailored to individual needs and situations.
Thank you for being a part of our history, and our future!
