  • Why Choose Healthcare Equipment, INC.?

Healthcare Equipment, INC. (HCE) has over 45 years of experience providing Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) in North Carolina. We have assisted tens of thousands of North Carolinians, both young and old, by working closely with clients, their families, caregivers, therapists, and doctors to deliver medically necessary mobility devices, equipment, and accessibility solutions. Share your daily challenges with us, and we'll find solutions to improve your future.

  • Will My Insurance Cover My Equipment?

We accept most major private insurance providers, Medicaid, Medicare, and all three NC Medicaid waivers. Coverage depends on your individual plan, the insurance company’s acceptance of the physician’s or therapist’s authorization, and other factors. Please call us to discuss your options.

  • How Long Does It Take to Get My Equipment?

Short Answer: If all paperwork is processed smoothly, the timeline from evaluation to delivery is typically 2-3 months.

Long Answer: Delays can occur. Insurance may question or deny the medical necessity of an item, requiring additional justifications from doctors and therapists. Manufacturers might face material sourcing issues that slow down shipping. Our goal is always to expedite paperwork and deliver the needed equipment as quickly as possible.

  • How Do I Get an Update on My Order?

Just call our office and ask for a status check. We handle all calls in-house at our centrally located office—no outsourcing overseas.

  • I Use My Wheelchair Every Day, All Day! How Often Can I Get a New One?

Medicare and most commercial insurance plans allow for a new medically necessary wheelchair every 5 years.

Medicaid typically allows for a new manual wheelchair every 3 years and a power chair every 4 years.

Medicaid also replaces other equipment, like standing frames or bathing and toileting systems, on a similar schedule.

If your condition changes due to surgery, growth, or progression of a dysfunction, new equipment may be considered before the usual timeframe.

  • What Should I Do If My Equipment from HCE Is Not Working Properly or Needs Adjustment?

Call our office and ask to speak with our service department. Our dedicated technicians will help troubleshoot the issue and, if necessary, schedule an appointment for further assistance.
